Regular maintenance of the training mat ensures long-lasting good quality. The judo or MMA mats can be used longer and retain their sports functional abilities longer. The frequency of cleaning depends on the frequency of use of the mat. For cleaning, we recommend our mat cleaner Sanosil.
1. Preparation
First, remove coarse dirt and debris from the mat surface. Coarse dirt, such as hair, tape residue or other large objects, is best removed with a broom. The mat surface can then be freed from dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner.
2. Manual maintenance cleaning
For manual cleaning, a conventional mop with a microfiber cover is recommended. The mat surface should be wiped with as little force as possible. Rinse the microfiber mop regularly with clear water, depending on the amount of dirt. If there are heavy soiling on the mat, the microfiber mop should be replaced regularly. Be careful not to use too much water and not to let the cleaning product soak in for too long to prevent the mats from swelling. After wiping, the mat must be allowed to dry. For this purpose, provide the best possible ventilation by opening the windows.
For permanently installed mat surfaces, we recommend lifting the tatami at regular intervals and cleaning the vinyl cover material on all sides, as well as cleaning the anti-slip with a soft-bristled hand brush. The subfloor of the mats should also be cleaned regularly.
3. Cleaning agents and cleaning equipment
We would like to point out that only suitable cleaning equipment and cleaning agents should be used for the tatami. We recommend using Sanosil cleaning agents.
Scrubbing & wiping disinfection
Apply undiluted Sanosil S003 to a cloth and fully wet the cleaned surface, so that a moist film is formed. Avoid droplet formation.
Scrubbing & wiping disinfection with pre-moistened cloths
Fill the Sanosil S003 cloth dispensing system with Sanosil S003. After 20 minutes, the cloths can be used: Visible contaminants must be removed before disinfection. Thoroughly wipe the surface to be disinfected with the pre-moistened Sanosil S003 cloth, ensuring complete coverage.*
Spray & wipe
Spray Sanosil S003 onto the surface or a cloth using a spray bottle, then wipe the surface.
Please note: Do not inhale the spray mist!
4. Important note
The cleaning recommendation corresponds to our current knowledge and may be subject to change. We cannot directly influence the proper cleaning of the mats. Additionally, due to the variety of types of contamination and local conditions, complete certainty regarding the results of the cleaning methods listed above cannot be guaranteed.
